Upgrade your breakfast meals with this deliciously crispy Denny’s waffles copycat recipe made with homemade batter, and topped with syrup.
Ingredients
10½ oz all-purpose flour
4 oz unsalted butter, melted
2 pcs eggs
2 cups milk
lemon juice, or lime juice, from half a lemon or lime
1 oz granulated sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
½ tsp vanilla extract
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
cooking spray
To Serve:
1 oz butter, per serving
¼ cup honey, per serving, or maple or pancake syrup
1 pc egg, per serving
Directions
Combine milk and lemon or lime juice and set aside for at least 30 minutes in a warm area.
While waiting, preheat your waffle iron at medium heat and grease with cooking spray.
In a large bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar.
Add your eggs, soured milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until evenly incorporated and smooth.
Ladle roughly ¾ cup batter into your waffle iron and allow to cook on both sides, roughly 3 to 5 minutes each or depending on the manufacturer’s directions.
Portion your waffles accordingly. Serve with your choice of cooked protein, butter, and honey, maple, or pancake syrup.
